Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Mr. Alfredo Pacheco, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Dominican Republic

On 17 April, Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Mr. Alfredo Pacheco, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress of the Dominican Republic within the framework of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) held in Istanbul.

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Ms. Sahiba Gafarova highlighted that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to expanding international cooperation and promoting parliamentary diplomacy. The Speaker noted that during its chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, Azerbaijan put forward important initiatives aimed at strengthening solidarity among member states, including promoting mutual support for the protection of the interests of small island states and responding jointly to global challenges.

Ms. Sahiba Gafarova also emphasized that the establishment and institutional development of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement has become an important platform in terms of multilateral parliamentary cooperation.

During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other issues of mutual interest, including the cooperation within the NAM PN.
