Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met Ms. Nosiwive Mapisa-Nqakula, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa

On February 11, Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with the Ms. Nosiwive Mapisa-Nqakula, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa, within the framework of the official visit to South Africa.

Ms. Nosiwive Mapisa-Nqakula, Speaker of the National Assembly, warmly greeted the delegation headed by Ms. Sahiba Gafarova and thanked her for accepting the invitation to pay an official visit to the Republic of South Africa.

Speaker of the National Assembly praisingly spoke of the Azerbaijani Chairmanship in the Non-Aligned Movement. She also underscored the high organisational standards set by the First Conference of the NAM Parliamentary Network in Baku as well as the importance of the documents passed at that conference. Ms. Nosiwive Mapisa-Nqakula underlined that cooperation within the Network’s frameworks is of great significance.

Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network thanked for the invitation to pay an official visit to South Africa and recalled with pleasure her meetings with Ms Nosiwive Mapisa-Nqakula in Baku and Jakarta last year.

Ms. Sahiba Gafarova spoke about Azerbaijan's successful activities as Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement and the significant events the NAM had held in Azerbaijan. Chairperson recalled that Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network was established on the initiative of H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and incumbent Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement, which received the support of the international community.

Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network recalled with pleasure the participation of the delegation of the Republic of South Africa in the Inaugural Meeting held in Madrid and in the First Conference held in Baku.
