Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Mr. Adel AbdulRahman AlAsoomi, President of the Arab Parliament

On February 7, Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met Mr. Adel AbdulRahman AlAsoomi, President of the Arab Parliament, within the framework of the official visit to the Arab Republic Egypt.

Mr. Adel AbdulRahman AlAsoomi greeted the delegation headed by Ms. Sahiba Gafarova and expressed that this meeting signified a remarkable contribution to the ongoing expansion of our relations. Mr. Adel AbdulRahman AlAsoomi underlined that Arab Parliament attaches special importance to cooperation with the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network. President of the Arab Parliament praised the successful Azerbaijani Chairmanship in the Parliamentary Network and highly appreciated the work done for ensuring its institutional development.  

Mr. Adel AbdulRahman AlAsoomi stressed that Arab Parliament pays special attention to cooperation with inter-parliamentary organizations and recalled with pleasure his participation in the Inaugural Meeting held in Madrid and the First Conference held in Baku. 

Ms. Sahiba Gafarova congratulated Mr. Adel AbdulRahman AlAsoomi on his re-election as President of the Arab Parliament and wished him success in his endeavours. Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network highly appreciated the participation of Mr. Adel AbdulRahman AlAsoomi in the events of the organization. Ms. Sahiba Gafarova spoke about the Second Conference of the NAM PN to be held on March 13 in Manama.

Chairperson highlighted that cooperation of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network with other international parliamentary organizations is broadening.

Ms. Sahiba Gafarova praised the decision made on January 22, 2023 at the Plenary Meeting of the Arab Parliament to grant the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network observer status.

The meeting proceeded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network and Arab Parliament.
