Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Mr. Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al Asoomi, President of the Arab Parliament

On May 14, Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Mr. Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al Asoomi, President of the Arab Parliament, within the framework of his visit to Azerbaijan.

Ms. Sahiba Gafarova greeted Mr. Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al Asoomi and expressed her gratitude for his participation at the Special Session of the Milli Majlis and recalled with pleasure her meetings with Mr. Al Asoomi in Madrid in 2021 and in Cairo in February. She mentioned the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Arab Parliament and the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network. Ms. Sahiba Gafarova praised the decision of the Arab Parliament to grant the NAM PN an observer status and underlined the significance of the institutionalisation of mutual cooperation.

Mr. Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al Asoomi, President of the Arab Parliament, thanked for the invitation to Baku. Mr. Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al Asoomi expressed that the Arab Parliament attaches great importance to its relations with the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network which was established upon the initiative of Azerbaijan. The Arab Parliament considers it important to maintain beneficial cooperation with the NAM Parliamentary Network.

President of the Arab Parliament recalled his participation in the NAM PN’s Inaugural Meeting held in Madrid, First Conference held in Baku as well as its Second Conference held in Bahrain, highlighting that all events had set high organisational standards.

Other matters of shared interest were discussed during the meeting as well.
