Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Mr. Ali Bin Saleh Al-Saleh, Chairperson of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Bahrain

On March 13, Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Mr. Ali Bin Saleh Al-Saleh, Chairperson of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Bahrain, within the framework of the visit to Bahrain.

Ms. Sahiba Gafarova praised the activity of the delegation of Bahrain in the NAM PN and recalled its participation in the Inaugural Meeting held in Madrid and the First Conference held in Baku.  Chairperson expressed that the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network broadening cooperation with other inter-parliamentary institutions and mentioned that Parliamentary Network gained observer statuses in the Arab Parliament, the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Members States and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly. Ms. Sahiba Gafarova added that the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the NAM PN and the ASEAN IPA yesterday. Ms. Sahiba Gafarova expressed that the Second Conference of the NAM PN will be held today at which more than 40 delegations are expected to participate.

Mr. Ali Bin Saleh Al-Saleh highlighted the successful Azerbaijani chairmanship in the Non-Aligned Movement and mentioned its activities to foster the Movement’s parliamentary dimension. Chairperson of the Shura Council expressed that Bahrain attaches great importance to the work of NAM PN and this importance is proven by Bahrain’s participation in both NAMPN events. Mr. Ali Bin Saleh Al-Saleh indicated his confidence in the success of the Second Conference of the NAM PN.

At the meeting, ideas were exchanged on further expansion of parliamentary diplomacy within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network.
