On January 30, Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Mr. Brahim Boughali, President of the National People's Assembly of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, within the framework of her participation in the 17th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States Conference held in Algiers, Algeria.
Mr. Brahim Boughali warmly greeted Ms. Sahiba Gafarova and recalled his visit to Azerbaijan in June 2022 to take part in the First Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network. He expressed that the Algerian parliament is wholly supportive of the Network and always ready to push forth cooperation within its frameworks.
Ms. Sahiba Gafarova spoke about the activities of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, established on the initiative of H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and incumbent Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement, and the tasks lying ahead of the Parliamentary Network. Chairperson expressed that matters for the organisation’s institutional development are to be discussed at its Second Conference in Bahrain. Ms. Sahiba Gafarova said that the Parliamentary Network is an institution capable of bolstering the coordination of joint activities of the member-parliaments and solving matters of joint concern whilst making certain that our countries’ voices are heard in the international arena. Chairperson praised Algeria’s active contribution to the Parliamentary Network’s endeavours.
