On January 30, Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Mr. Johari Abdul, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malaysia, within the framework of her participation in the 17th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) Conference held in Algiers, Algeria.
Ms. Sahiba Gafarova expressed her pleasure at the attendance of the 17th Session of the PUIC Conference and said that such gatherings provide splendid opportunities to discuss various aspects and issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Ms. Sahiba Gafarova spoke on the activities of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, established at the initiative of H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. She listed the measures implemented during the Chairmanship of Azerbaijan for further transformation of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network into a prestigious global inter-parliamentary organization. Chairperson recalled the participation of the Malaysian parliamentarians in the First Conference of the NAM PN held in Baku.
Mr. Johari Abdul, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malaysia warmly greeted Ms. Sahiba Gafarova and expressed that Malaysian Parliament attaches great importance to the activities of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network.
At the meeting, opinions were exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
