Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Mr. Mustafa Şentop, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye

On January 9, Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network met with Mr. Mustafa Şentop, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT) and President of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, within the framework of her participation in the 13th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly held in Antalya, Türkiye.

Mr. Mustafa Şentop greeted Ms. Sahiba Gafarova cordially before voicing his considerations about the importance of the items on the agenda of the current APA Plenary Session. He gave information about the work done by the GNAT during his presidency in the APA and expressed his views on the contributions of this platform to inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Ms. Sahiba Gafarova thanked Mr. Mustafa Şentop for the hospitality extended to the delegation headed by her and praised the successful conduct of the event, adding that the five-year chairmanship of Türkiye in the APA had made a remarkable input in the work of this organisation.  Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network also said that the items on the plenary agenda were devoted to modern challenges and would promote the expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation. 

Ms. Sahiba Gafarova spoke about the recent activities of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network. She listed the measures implemented during the Chairmanship of Azerbaijan for further transformation of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network into a prestigious global inter-parliamentary organization.

Other issues of interest to the parties were also discussed at the meeting.
