Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Ms. Grecia Colmenares, the Second Vice-President of the National Assembly of Venezuela

On 17 April, Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Ms. Grecia Colmenares, the Second Vice-President of the National Assembly of Venezuela within the framework of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) held in Istanbul.

At the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the cooperation of two countries within a number of international organizations, including the Non-Aligned Movement. It was emphasized that all initiatives put forward by the Government of Azerbaijan during the period of its chairmanship in the Non-Aligned Movement were supported by Venezuela.

During the conversation, Speaker Ms. Sahiba Gafarova informed about the institutional development of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, established at the initiative of President of Azerbaijan H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and the work carried out towards the implementation of the organization’s objectives. The Vice-President of the National Assembly of Venezuela highly appreciated the activities of the Parliamentary Network and stated that her country actively participates in its work.

An exchange of views was also held at the meeting on other issues of mutual interest, including the cooperatin within the NAM PN.
