Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Ms. Gulshat Mamedova, Chairperson of the Mejlis of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan

On June 30, Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Ms. Gulshat Mamedova, Chairperson of the Mejlis of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, visiting Azerbaijan to participate in the organization's Baku Conference.

Ms. Sahiba Gafarova greeted the guest and thanked her for her participation in the Baku Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network. She pointed out that the conference was dedicated to the theme of “Boosting the role of national parliaments in promoting global peace and sustainable development”.

Ms. Sahiba Gafarova noted that H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and incumbent Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement, made valuable comments about the current situation in the world during his speech at the Baku Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network. The views of H.E. Mr. President play an important role in determining the directions of action of the Non-Aligned Movement.

Ms Gafarova has highlighted the fact that it was on the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan that the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network was established and that its Conference was being held in Baku today. The importance of the Baku Conference in terms of the development of cooperation among the parliaments of member states of the Non-Aligned Movement was expressed.

Voicing her contentment with her visit to Azerbaijan, Ms. Gulshat Mamedova, Chairperson of the Mejlis of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, underlined the importance of the Baku Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network and expressed her gratitude for the invitation to this event.

The guest highly valued the speech by the President of Azerbaijan at the Baku Conference and noted the significance of the issues he touched upon.
