Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Ms. Puan Maharani, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia

On 18 February, during the bilateral meeting of the Speakers the Asian Parliamentary Assembly was recognized as a crucial parliamentary platform uniting the legislatures of Asia. Ms. Gafarova emphasized the importance of the upcoming plenary session in Baku, noting that key regional and global issues would be discussed. She highlighted the significance of such events in strengthening dialogue and expanding bilateral relations between participating countries.

Ms. Gafarova highlighted that Indonesia's active participation in the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, established at the initiative of H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has been pivotal.

The Speakers discussed the objectives of the NAM PN under Azerbaijan’s Chairmanship, with particular emphasis on institutional development and strengthening the organization’s role in addressing global challenges.

The meeting also provided a platform for exchanging views on gender equality, enhancing women’s representation in governance, and other issues of shared interest, further strengthening the ties between the two nations.
