Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Sir Gerald Watt, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Antigua and Barbuda and Ms. Alincia Williams-Grant, Speaker of the Senate of Antigua and Barbuda

On 29 May, Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, informed her counterparts about Azerbaijan’s ongoing efforts in advancing the goals of NAM PN, particularly in the areas of institutional development and the strengthening of solidarity among member countries. Ms. Sahiba Gafarova discussed how NAM PN has contributed to amplifying the voices of small developing island states and the global community's support for such initiatives.

Moreover, Ms. Sahiba Gafarova brought up the upcoming Parliamentary Conference, which is set to be held alongside the Inter-Parliamentary Union at the COP29 in Baku. She noted that this conference would provide a valuable opportunity for parliamentarians from NAM PN member states to exchange views, share experiences, and discuss further actions to combat climate change, one of the pressing challenges of our time.
