Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network delivered a speech at the first plenary session of the 43rd General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly

Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, delivered a speech at the first plenary session of the 43rd General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly within the framework of her official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Ms. Sahiba Gafarova greeted all parliamentary delegations participating in the General Assembly and thanked Mr. Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia and President of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, for his invitation to the 43rd General Assembly and extended hospitality.
The Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network mentioned that Azerbaijan had successfully chaired the Non-Aligned Movement, which was the second largest organization in the world after the UN.
Ms. Sahiba Gafarova noted that H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan undertook the initiative, as the chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement, to develop the parliamentary dimension of the movement and pointed this out as proof of the importance attached by Azerbaijan to the inter-parliamentary cooperation on a global scale.
Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network was founded in Madrid in November 2021 and held its first conference in Baku, Azerbaijan in June of this year. Ms. Sahiba Gafarova expressed the readiness of the Parliamentary Network to contribute to the common goals by establishing active relations with other parliamentary organizations, including the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.
