Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Mr. Lukas Sinimbo Muha, Chairperson of the National Council of the Republic of Namibia

On October 5, Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Mr. Lukas Sinimbo Muha, Chairperson of the National Council of the Republic of Namibia, within the framework of her participation in the 8th G20 Parliamentary Speakers' Summit, held in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Ms. Sahiba Gafarova drew attention to the existence of beneficial relations within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement. She recalled that a delegation led by Mr. Hage Gottfried Geingob, President of the Republic of Namibia, visited Azerbaijan within the framework of the 18th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement held in Baku on October 23-26, 2019. Ms. Sahiba Gafarova also emphasized Namibia's support for the Movement's parliamentary dimension, an initiative taken by Azerbaijan as the Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement, noting that the parliamentary delegation of the country had participated in the Inaugural Meeting of the Parliamentary Network held in Madrid in November 2021. Namibia was also represented at the Baku Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network.

As the Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, Ms. Sahiba Gafarova informed about the results of the Baku Conference, the tasks facing the organization and the scheduled events.

Mr. Lukas Sinimbo Muha, Chairperson of the National Council of the Republic of Namibia, sincerely welcomed Ms. Sahiba Gafarova and said that Namibia attaches great importance to cooperation with the Non-Aligned Movement and appreciates the organization's active role in the system of international relations.

At the meeting, further opinions were exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
