Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with Mr. Adel AbdulRahman AlAsoomi, President of the Arab Parliament

On November 28, Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with Mr. Adel AbdulRahman AlAsoomi, President of the Arab Parliament, during her visit to Madrid for participation in the 143rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Inaugural Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network.

Congratulating the Speaker of the Milli Majlis on the establishment of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, Mr. Adel AbdulRahman AlAsoomi said that the organization he leads would provide all kinds of support to the Parliamentary Network. Noting that Arab countries will be represented in the Parliamentary Network, the President of the Arab Parliament pointed out the significance of this initiative put forward by Azerbaijan. He expressed his belief that the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network would become a global parliamentary institution.

Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis, greeted the President of the Arab Parliament and expressed gratitude for his congratulations. Speaking about the importance of this initiative put forward by Azerbaijan, the Speaker noted that our country had come up with multiple initiatives related to ensuring peace and security in the world and implementing joint measures against global problems. She stressed the great need for international cooperation in the current era of global economic problems, pandemics, and xenophobia. Therefore, noting that the creation of a Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network is very important, and this platform will create opportunities for extensive cooperation among parliamentarians.
