Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Deputy Speakers of the African Group Parliaments

On 25 June, Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Mr. Sanhá Fodé Caramba, First Deputy Speaker of the Transitional National Council of Guinea-Bissau; Ms. Haoua Fofana, Second Deputy Speaker of the People’s Legislative Assembly of Burkina Faso; Mr. Mbank Hadji Woli, Deputy Speaker of the Senate of Chad; Ms. Sarra Sako Née Fadika, Deputy Speaker of the Senate of Côte d’Ivoire; and Mr. Mohamed Ousmane Ag Mohamedoun, Deputy Speaker of the Transitional National Council of Mali, who were visiting Azerbaijan to participate in the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Member States, held in Baku.
The meeting emphasised the important role of parliaments in deepening relations between countries and peoples. The current state of relations between the legislative bodies and opportunities for expanding cooperation were also considered. In particular, the importance of developing cooperation between the parliaments represented by the guests within international parliamentary organisations, including the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement and the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Member States, was noted.
