Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Mr. Mamadou Harouna Djingarey, Chairman of the Consultative Council of the Republic of Niger

On 23 June, Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with Mr. Mamadou Harouna Djingarey, Chairman of the Consultative Council of the Republic of Niger, who was visiting Azerbaijan to participate in the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Member States.

During the conversation, cooperation between the legislative bodies within international parliamentary organisations was noted. The importance of mutual support within organisations such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement and the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Member States was also emphasised.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova informed the guest about the activities of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, established in 2021 at the initiative of President of Azerbaijan H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev. It was stated that over the course of five years, the Parliamentary Network had made significant progress in terms of both institutional development and enhancing its international standing.

The guest also shared his views on inter-parliamentary cooperation and stated that they would continue to participate actively in the work of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement.
