Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met with the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

On 3 September, as part of her working visit to the Swiss Confederation, Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Chairperson of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, met in Geneva with Ms. Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

The Speaker of the Milli Majlis shared her views on the role and importance of parliamentary diplomacy in advancing multilateralism. She briefed her counterpart on the work of the newly established Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, which already has a strong foundation. The sides also discussed the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the world’s largest parliamentary organisation, and noted the importance of developing relations between the United Nations and the IPU.
